With the recent purchase of clays we have seen an increase in cost from 10.2 cents per clay to 12.7 cents which is a 24.5% increase. So the question that we need to resolve is should we just eat the cost or should we raise our fees and if so by how much? I suggest that as a group we should all agree to either raise our prices or keep them as is. Please comment and lets make a decision in this thread.

Just to complete the discussion based on the voting it looks like we are going to raise our shotgun prices to reflect the increased cost of our recent clays purchase. So based on the discussions Trap, Skeet, and 5 Stand will increase to $5,$6, and $8 per round and SportingClays will increase to $25,$30, and $35 per round. Agreed?
I’m planning to raise skeet prices this Saturday.
I have added our advisors to these notifications on BOD Discussions so you all will now be included. Also I have extended the voting time on this topic until Monday Feb 6 so that advisors can vote if so inclined. Advisors are encouraged to add comments and to vote.
Currently it appears that we will be raising our prices but lets see if that changes by Feb 6.
I think you should raise it based on current prices. If we don’t, and there is another 24% increase in the next 1.5 years we’ll have to essentially do 2 price increases at once to catch up.
Generally speaking, I’m a believer in pricing at current market conditions vs what we paid prior. It allows us to have the funds to keep purchasing in the future and shotgun sports to be self sufficient.
There is also the maintenance costs associated with the machine usage that the slight increase in clay prices would help to offset.
I have added a poll to this discussion so we can all vote. I propose that we all agree to follow the results. The poll will show up tomorrow and end Feb 1
Yes, WCFW needs to increase the fees for the Clay shooting sports disciplines to help off set the increase 0f the cost of the new purchase of clay targets.
Thank you, JAN
Well if we want to raise prices I think we have a good justification at this time. I have been in the same camp as Justin thinking those price increases would make sense and we would still be much lower that other places. So $5 increase for SC would, I think, be justifiable.
However we do have a problem with lack of attendance and I don’t know if a price increase would negatively affect that or not. As for SC currently we make around $13.17 profit per shooter. With the clay price increase it will drop to around $10.27 so we loose $2.90 in profit. If we raise the price by $5 then we increase our profit to about $15.27 which is a profit increase of about $2.10. Also keep in mind that SC has a lot of overhead costs which can only increase too.
Looking at Pat’s numbers from last year shotgun took in about $20.97k and we paid about $19.9k for clays. So we covered that cost of clays but this doesn’t account for maintenance and overhead. With the new clay purchase of $24.6k we would be loosing money. Having said all this I still feel that a price increase is needed and now would be the time as the increased clay cost would justify the price increase.
Increase the cost by $1.00 across all pricing…
The cost per target of our lastest shipment is about 0.126 per clay. I don’t know if we really need to raise prices at this time.
Currently the following prices per clay exists Trap, Skeet & 5 stand:
RO $4 per 27 = $0.148 per clay
Members $5 per 27 = $0.185 per clay
Non-Members $7 per 27 = $0.259 per clay
Note: ROs & Juniors have the same rate.
Bumping everything up a dollar:
ROs $0.185
Mem $0.222
Non $0.296
With Sporting, a $5 dollar increase per 100 across the board:
ROs $25
Mem $30
Non $35
