American Skeet
is shooting crossing targets that travel in a fixed path from two
different trap machines. 25 targets are shot from 8 shooting stations at various
positions on the skeet field.
Many shots are "doubles" or shots on two targets
in the air at the same time.

International Skeet
is a variation of skeet
shot in World and Olympic competition. 25 targets are shot in a slightly
different sequence than American Skeet.
Target speeds are considerably faster
and a random delay is applied when targets are thrown. Shotguns cannot be
mounted to the shoulder until the target is visible.
