On Sunday, October 28th, the Flight for Life helicopter took off from the range at about 5:00 p.m., bound for The Medical Center of the Rockies.  Bud had suffered a massive brain aneurysm and was in grave condition.  After being unhooked from life support, he passed away at about 10:00 p.m. that evening.

Bud was a veteran who served in the Army and was in Vietnam in the 60s, though he really never liked to talk about that time period.

He loved teaching/working with new shooters, especially kids.  Bud had been on the WCF&W Board of Directors for 7 years and was the Match Director for the monthly Action Pistol and ICORE shoots.  He also ran the Wednesday pistol practice for 6 months out of the year.

I was going to list Bud’s state, national and international pistol competition statistics until I compiled the list, which filled up 3 pages.  The accomplishments that probably meant the most to Bud were at the American Handgunner when he won Open Revolver World Shootoff Champion in 2001 & 2002 (beating Jerry Michalik, touted as the best revolver shooter in the world).

We at WCF&W lost a good friend, a dedicated volunteer, mentor and a fierce competitor.  He will be sorely missed.
